Description of the Courses

I. The Kodály course for music pedagogues/choral conductors is arranged according to four levels:

I.1. Introductory Course for music pedagogues
I.2. Basic Diploma Course for music pedagogues
I.3. General Diploma Course for music pedagogues/choral conductors
I.3.1. Music Pedagogy
I.3.2. Choral Conducting

I.4. Advanced Diploma Course for music pedagogues/choral conductors
I.4.1. Music Pedagogy
I.4.2. Choral Conducting

New students will be assigned to the levels at the beginning of the academic year on the basis of oral and written tests taken here after arrival. The faculty reserves the right to alter the grouping.
2nd, 3rd year students of a certain level may continue their studies at next level on condition that they complete the requirements of previous level and have attained grade A or B in compulsory subjects.
The end-of-year examination will be regarded as entrance test to the next level of study.
There is an opportunity to take oral and written tests at the beginning of the next academic year for those students who have not attained grade A or B in compulsory subjects. On the basis of these exams they may or may not continue their studies at the next level.
First-year students may only assigned to the Advanced Diploma Course on the basis of faculty decision and only with highest qualification.

II. The Kodály course for pianists/singers is offered in the following categories:

These courses are offered only for pianists or singers who intend to develop their musicianship on the basis of Kodály's pedagogical philosophy. Participants may only be assigned if they can prove substantial achievements in their major subject. Candidates are requested to send in a videotape of their piano playing or singing.

III. A part-time study program may be set up upon request from the participants. The program can be composed only of those subjects which are offered in the syllabus.
