Dr Mihály Ittzés



Graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music Budapest, department of music pedagogy and choral conducting.

1963-1970 - teacher of solfege, theory and conductor of students' orchestra at Gyõr Secondary Music School (Conservatory).

1970-1973 - teacher and choral conductor at Kecskemét Kodály School.

From 1973 - assistant professor then professor, and head of library then deputy director at the Kodály Institute.

Prof. Ittzés has lectured in conferences and taught at Kodály Seminars both in Hungary (since 1970) and abroad (since 1977).

Mr. Ittzés has published a great number of articles and studies both in Hungarian and in foreign languages on musicological and music educational topics. His main field of research is Kodály's life and work, but studies on Liszt and 20th century composers were also published. A book with 22 selected writings on music was published in Hungarian in 2000, and a similar selection in English is under preparation.

He has been active in both the Hungarian and the International Kodály Societies (where he was vice-president between 1993-2001) as well as other music societies in Hungary.
