NEWS ARCHIVES - 2012:

Events in December

To honour the 130th anniversary of the birth of Zoltán Kodály the Kodály Art Festival, usually held during the summer, took place in December in 2012. Two concerts of the Festival have been hosted by the Kodály Institute and the Choir of the Institute (formed from students of the Institute) performed at the closing concert of the Festival.

On 16th December the students of the Institute greeted Zoltán Kodály at his birthplace with singing and laying a wreath by the memorial plaque there. In the evening the Choir of the Institute, alongside with other renown artists, performed Kodály’s Te Deum of Buda Castle – the concert also served as the closing event of the Kodály Art Festival.

After the concert the students, professors and workers of the Institute celebrated in the Concert Hall, around the Christmas tree. On 17th December professors of the Institute gave a Christmas concert to families from the SOS Children’s Village, Kecskemét. The concert, enriched by some slides and a playful educational quiz as well, proved delightful for all age groups of the audience: from the littlest ones to adults.
