Please mark your calendar for Reunion Week, August 3-7, 2009!


Come join your fellow Kodály Institute alumni as we return to the alma mater to celebrate and reflect upon our Kodály (Institute) legacy.

Reunion 2009 will be August 3-7 in conjunction with the  25th International Kodály Seminar in Kecskemét, Hungary.

Reunion 2009 marks milestones for class years ending in 4 and 9!

Staff members promise a week full of opportunities to re-connect with your teachers and fellow classmates through participation in informative workshops, classes, social events, and outrageous fun.

Would you like to participate in the 3-week long 25th International Kodály Seminar as well?

As an alumnus/alumna you will get a special discount: no registration fee and 30% off the participation fee if you register for the Seminar before 1 March, 2009 and pay the fee before 1 May, 2009.

Reconnect:
- Go to the Kodály Institute website Alumni section and Update Your Info.
- Spread the word about the upcoming reunion to fellow alumni to maximize turnout and merrymaking.
- Register your interest in attending at alumni@kodaly.hu or +36 76 481 518.

Reminisce:
Search your photo albums, shoeboxes, and other dark corners for pictures and other memorabilia from your days at the Institute. Contact the Alumni Association at alumni@kodaly.hu, or call to +36 76 481 518 and share your ideas for the reunion you'd like to attend; then volunteer to help make it happen.

So you mark your calendars now and plan to join us in Kecskemét!

In 2005, the Kodály Institute celebrated its 30th anniversary. Besides the 23rd International Kodály Seminar in the summer and a special anniversary conference in the autumn, Reunion 2005 was organized for Kodály Institute students:

(2) Michalis Patseas - conductor (student of the 1986-1989 Academic Years from Greece),
(3) Eun Kyung Park - piano (student of the 1992-1993 Academic Year from Korea),
(4) Lucinda Smallman - piano (student of the 2000-2002 Academic Years from Great Britain)
Lunch time concerts given by former students of the Institute:
(1) Catherine Kubash - voice (student of the 1994-1995 Academic Year from Canada)
and Reinhard Findenegg - piano (student of the 1995-1997 Academic Years from Austria)
(2) Sergio de la Ossa - guitar (student of the 2001-2004 Academic Years from Spain)
and Keiko Yoshimochi - voice (student of the 1999-2004 Academic Years from Japan)
(3) Konstantina Pitsiakou - voice (student of the 1997-2000 Academic Years from Greece)

Besides Prof Péter Erdei's lecture on Twentieth-Century Choir Literature, participants of the Reunion could listen to lectures held by Dr Mihály Ittzés on Trends in Late Twentieth-Century and Contemporary Hungarian Music, and by Prof Sarolta Platthy on Recent Situation in Hungarian Music Education.

Folk Dance Evening:
former students taught differenct dances to each other and seminar participants.
(1) Clara Portal (student of the 1998-1999 Academic Year from Spain) taught Jewish dances
(2) Areti Lyberopoulou (student of the 2004-2005 Academic Year from Greece) taught Greek dances
Ardelle Ries (student of the 1990-1994 Academic Years from Canada) is rehearsing with the Alumni Choir
